How to win Head to Head Games in Madden 13 Plays that will win games
Intro
This guide will talk about plays that are effective on Madden 13. Keep in mind these will not work for every player, but these are pretty effective, and tend to work fairly often.

The Slants
This play was UNSTOPPABLE in Madden 12, and I wrote a guide solely on this play, but you can stop this play in Madden 13. ALTHOUGH this is still a great play to run, because it is hard to cover for a few downs, and IF you can get away with it once I highly suggest rushing the offense and trying a couple more times until it does fail.
Also if you do rush the line, change up some of the routes of your offense, and continue to demolish their defense until you move down the field. This usually works for a while but there are other plays that you will need that I will talk about below.
Run Plays
Run plays are a great way to throw off the defense, gain short yardage, and every once in a while make great plays. Also this is a great way to attack those who are not that great at the game, or aren't that great at defense. Run plays are great for running out the clock as well.
As far as doing run plays, I prefer hand off plays that keep the ball close to the line. From my experience doing outside hand offs, or tosses seem to not get the yardage that inside handoffs tend to get.
Overall I have never been a fan of run plays, but in this game, especially on ultimate team, I find that runs are perfect to play against any team. Whether your running the clock, getting short yardage, or just trying to throw the defense off, the run play is a great way to do any of those.
Pass Plays
Personally I find that shotgun plays usually give you the best chance of getting the completion. This gives you extra time in the pocket, and allows you to set a play up and find the right person to throw to. I think also that shotgun passes tend to give you the best play setups, and the most exotic plays that allow people to get open. this makes it very easy to fool a defense, and to get that good yardage.
I personally do not like play action passes. I find that when you play another opponent they tend to do blitz plays a lot, and the play action pass tends to have a LOT of sacks. If you are playing the CPU then you will be able to do play action passes and have success with them, but when playing other real players you will most likely get sacked.
As far as quick passes go, I personally do not like them. there are a few plays in shotgun formation that are made as quick passes, and are very easy to set up, and complete. Personally I don't like the typical plays that come along with the quick passes, but will still do them from time to time.
I will do a standard pass when I want to throw the defense off. Usually they assume if I line up for a standard pass, I am running, and this is when i can usually complete a good 5-15 yard pass, and get a first down.
Overall I still prefer to do the shotgun pass over any type of pass. I find this to be the most effective, and the best way for you to complete anything that you need to.
QB Sneak
While the QB sneak was a guaranteed 1-2 yards in madden 12, this is not the case in Madden 13. there are ways to stop the QB sneak, and it is not very hard to do. With that being said, you can usually still get a couple inches, or a yard with a QB sneak when in need. If it is 3rd down, and you have 1 yard or less to go I would say go with a QB sneak because the defense is not expecting it. Although if it is 4th and 1, then don't expect to make the pass, because with the set ups in madden it is not very hard to stop the Qb sneak, and get the turn over.
Summary
Overall your goal is to win. Don't do the same play over and over again. This will not work, and the defense is a LOT smarter in Madden 13, and over time they will learn your techniques, and will start to counter your plays. So the best option you have is to keep changing things up. Now that does not mean if you find something that does work, to stop it, but that you should not throw a Hail Mary every play or soon you may start throwing interceptions instead of completions.
