Updated on November 20, 2012

Intro

In this hub I will be talking about strategies, and methods that you can use to create a my player, and to have the stats set up best so that you can get your player to play to the fullest ability.

Before I start let me say that for the latest gaming news, and guides that I am writing for various sports and first person shooter games, feel free to follow me on Twitter @Johnrr631992 or twitter.com/johnrr631992 ..

Also I am available to answer questions on Xbox live network.. My gamertag is MKS JohnR space between the two names.

Also please feel free to ask questions in the comments below, or let me know about whether you like the game.

My Player

So before I start talking about what you should or shouldn't do with the my player I should talk about what the My Player game mode is.

The game this year focuses heavily on the My Player game mode, and has MANY new features on the game, and within the game mode. Overall the game mode is a lot of fun, and has always been one of my favorite game modes on the NBA game series.

In the game itself your goal is to create a player, to the attributes you want, position you want, and fully customize that character. Upon doing that you need to start him as a rookie and build him to his fame, and really fully develop the player.

You play games to earn experience, practice drills, and do many things that over time will allow you to be able to develop your attributes and build the best player you can build.

Creating a player

When you are creating your player a lot of things come into play. First off, do not just do the generic player for attributes. You want to customize everything to the best of your ability. One things players mistake is to just simply allow everything to be pre set. Now I do not mean the facial characteristics, and clothing, or tattoo's as that stuff does not matter, but height, weight, position, type of player all have a big play in the way that you will play out on the court. SO with that being said, first let me talk about position.

The best position to play yourself in is the point guard. That is of course if you want to have the ball a lot, and control the game. With that being said, you will also need the most skill for this position, as if you continuously screw up you will either not play, or lose every game.

It does not matter what position you are going to choose, BUT keep in mind when choosing height and weight that you should be smart. FOR instance you do not want a center that is 6' now do you want a point guard who is 7'3"... While you could do this, it would not be smart as far as the development and workability of the player. Also be careful with weight. This plays into the movement on the court, or the strength the player has.

Another important feature is choosing the playing style of your player. For me on the point guard. I chose the shooting preference so it would boost my overall shooting ability, and allow me to better develop on the court. At the same time I did not want the 3pt specialist. Also since your a point guard you can naturally pass good, but I did not want passing benefits because it took to much off the shooting. So overall you need to think about what exactly you want to be doing as a player, and base this information off that, but check how each type affects the players attributes as well so that you can choose the best method that suits your playing style.

When Playing

When you are playing there are some things you should keep in mind. First off, that your player is a rookie, and is not going to be able to perform like an all star. EVEN if you could in the past games. They really have changed things this year so it takes a LOT more effort if you want to be able to perform the way that you did in past games.

Also keep in mind that depending on your position you should have certain roles. If you are a point guard, while shooting all the time may seem like a good idea, remember that you need assists as well. That if you are not shooting well, give up and pass, and earn those points.

The game has put a lot of focus into the letter grades as well. I have noticed it is a little harder to get to A status than it was in the last few years games. I think overall this is a good thing, but with that being said, it is more difficult, and you should put more focus into getting your grade up, and not focus on just taking shots, or what you want to do.

Also remember that you will not play a lot in the beginning so make your performances count. The better you do each game the more likely you will play additional time. So you should make every second count when on the court and focus on trying to the best of your ability to get those stats way up.

Summary

So overall there are a lot of things for you to work on in NBA 2K13's my player. You should be smart in your decision, and put good effort into each game to develop your stats, and lead the league to the best of your ability.

With that being said, if you liked what you have read then please feel free to check out my other guides.
