Intro

This guide/hub will teach you the tips and strategies that you can and should use to get to high levels on the map Underground for survival mode on Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

PLEASE NOTE ::: Below is a guide for general strategies for all survival maps that i suggest you read prior to the rest of this hub. I will reference and not going into great detail on the things you should use. But if you read the guide i give full reasons of why you should use each item.

The Map

So first let me go over what is on the map. This will tell you the items that i have drawn up and below will be the strategy for the map.

The Orange X's are where your turrets will go. Preferably grenade turrets on this map, but if you are not a high enough level, then the regular turrets will be fine.

The red X's will be your player placement. Each player should stand respectively near those areas, while both are behind cover. This will allow you to stay fairly protected while defeating the enemy troops that will come towards you and try and attack you.

The blue lines represent the paths where enemy troops will come from. These are the only ways that enemies will come.. With 1 exception which i will talk about below

The pink/purple section off to the side is your escape route. This is where you will run, if you get in trouble and need an escape. This is that one exception to the blue line rule where a few ( no more than 6 at very high rounds) may come this way, but not always.. The best way to not worry about this, is to set some claymores around this area in the tunnel between rounds, and you will not have to worry about this later on.

So now for the strategy...

The Strategy

Ok so this strategy, as mine typically are, is fairly simple. First the basics. Each player should strive for two light machine guns, slight of hand, self revive, riot shield team, predator missiles when needed, all full stock on grenades... Those items are explained in my guide above why you should have each of those and what the benefits are.

As far as each player.. The player who is closest to the restock crate will be hidden behind the square concrete block. If crouched you will not get hit with bullets, Your main goal in this position is to guard the turrets, and to take out whatever and whoever you may see.

The other player, who will be more on the bridge, will be more worried about shooting any enemies that come on the bridge. You will get a lot of payers this way and you will have plenty of action. You goal is to stay hidden and let the enemy come to you.

At some point both of you should acquire a set of riot shield units. This will aid you a lot when taking out the enemy troops that come at you. You should focus your main goal on getting riot shield teams, and the turrets first as these will be your highest defense throughout the game.

If at some point when the juggernauts come, or you do get bogged down, use the escape path To make a fast get away. You should have no problem using this path to cycle your way around the map, and eventually make your way back to the camping area.

So there is your strategy for this map, Just remember, you should stay crouched and hidden. Take out enemies who get close, let your turrets and riot shield teams do most of the work. You should also make sure you stay well stocked on ammo, and grenade etc.... But with this strategy you should have no problem finding your way to high levels, and should be fairly easy for you to get to high levels.

Below are strategies to other survival maps.

What is the exact location you set up turrets?

I set the turrets up, right at the edge, before it starts going downhill. once it goes downhill your turrets will be more aimed at the ground, but if up in the air at top of hill, they will kill a much larger radius, including some guys on the platform.

Shifty 3 months ago

Dont they take alot of damage being that far in front?

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 3 months ago

No, because for an enemy to shoot the turrets, they have to get close to them, they typically do not shoot them from afar, so as long as you are watching the turrets, you for the most part are protecting them throughout the game, and if one does die by helicopter, the grenade box is right there behind you anyways.

Ive never heard of this strategy but one I've seen other people use commonly is the one up the stairs from the weapon armories. Ive not tried this but I will and think it'll work.

It should work, it worked for me and my teammate. Do hopefully it will work for you

what level did you get to?.. i doubt very high. you will eventually get swamped with this strategy. the best places which i have learnt is ontop of the van (left hand side of map) make sure you are laying down. pick of who you can see, and C4 the rest that gather in the corner. also this is good for the juggernaughts as they cannot see you or kill you. got to level 72 with this. the other place is behind the trains a little corner that you can dig urself into. again juggernaughts cannot see you or kill you. be patient and smart. the above strategy is a novice one at best. play more and search the map. major rule is no wide open spaces.

As i say when people comment like this, my guides are to get players to minimum level 30+, with this strategy i have made it to the high 40's, low 50's... I tend to stay away from glitches ( anywhere that gives you an unfair advantage where you cannot be killed but can get killed) as i am trying to help those who wanna improve, and have fun. I mean it takes a lot of time investment to get to the 70+ levels, and usually people don't have that much time. I mean i could do glitches on every map, and people could get to high levels, but i feel that, that takes the fun out of gaming. Please understand i'm not calling out your strategy or anything, and i really will try it, and if i feel that it is good enough, and is not an unfair advantage to the player, ill quote you, and add it to this hub, but as of now, i just cant, but as i said, this does not mean your strat is not good, i just cannot give any thoughts on it without trying it first.

What about the chocks? How do you protect the gun turrets from the helicopters? Or is it not an issue if you take it out fast with a Predator Missile?

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 3 months ago

Well don't waste your predator on a normal helicopter. This will waste your predator, that you should be saving for juggernauts. Shoot them down at the beginning of a round, worse comes to worse, the crate is right behind you for a new one at higher levels you don't need to worry about money, just survival.

gypo 3 months ago

I stay ther for the first 3 rounds then go to air support and set up 2 turrets and lay claymores up the stairs and. At evry entrance to the station. When choppers come put the turrets under ground to the right then take them out. Also agree with the lng mk46 highest level so far. 31

not bad strategy, but needs work to get past 31.

xajopen 3 months ago

stay by the starting point for about 5 rounds. Than go to the bus stop and place turrets in the back corners. you and your partner prone next to the killstreak box and wait for them to come. your escaping way is the underground hallway on your right. i made it about round 30 whit this strategy.

xajopen 3 months ago

use some light machine guns for getting points and use a assasult relive for getting guys out of the way in your escape route

2 Turrets facing the stairs to the Airdrop tool. Right near the start. Now, Riot team and you at the end of the same hall, near the turnstiles watching the corner. Only long run, is to get to armor tool for turrets guns. Ammo and air is very close. I can get over 50 in the tunnel.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 2 months ago

May work, But the tunnel can easily trap you if juggernauts come from both ways.

13JpGoosen13 7 weeks ago

I usualy spare money for a sentry at the first few waves After I have enough for one, then I go up the stairs past the gun and ammo tool. Place turret just outside the small roof outside, near the airdrop tool and away of the flight of stairs... I place claymores if there are enemies coming in from the tunnel, and best part is, if attack choppers are coming, you can take your sentry and shield it under the small roof, back at the seats or inside tunnel... Your'e at airdrop for riot and normal squads, predators and airstrikes for juggernauts big amount of heavily armoured enemies and attack helicopters. Also close to ammo and gun tool, to restock on ammo... Go prone under the small roof to minimize chances of being hit... If things are getting too hot, use tunnels as escape route.

Not a bad strategy, I sometimes suggest that to certain people, who have a lot of trouble with helicopters, or people playing solo, but overall, It is not a bat strategy..

I have gotten to round 33 on team. but i did what you said not to, i purchased a sniper rifle (rsass) and hit down stairs in the one tunnel, i took out everyone from one direction and my friend took out everyone behind me. when jugs came we predator missiled and used LMGs. the RSASS is decent, for the first few rounds its one shot, then every few rounds it takes one more shot unless its a headshot.place claymore on the back stairs near the bus, and up front towards the yellow cart. this leaves a small buffer and eliminates a good portion of the enemies. for 2 player i advise one has an ACR or AK and a LMG the other either an assault rifle or the RSASS and an LMG. if you can affford it get sleight of hand. it will save you.

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 7 weeks ago

Yes Slight of hand was key. Most of my guides were written pre level 50, but I suggest slight of hand, or having your friend getting it for you. Either way, I don't mind your area, but the sniper is to weak after lets say level 15 in my opinion it is under powered.

im curious how the perks work.... it only lets me hav one so i choose revive

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 5 weeks ago

Well, you can have 1 from each class. Self revive is a must, but sleight of hand, and others can be brought from the plane looking crate.

Me and my brother memorized this map. We hide at the guns and get on either side of the stairs and if a chopper comes we go under the stairs. Our record is round 26. He is level 42 and i am 46 so we have good guns but cant get past 26. Do you have tips?

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 Hub Author 4 weeks ago

My tips.. I think both, or at least 1 of you needs to reach 50. When you get sleight of hand it changes the WORLD of survival mode as you can reload significantly quicker. It is especially great for the LMG's because they reload at the rate of a normal assault rifle. Only one of you has to be 50, and what you must do is buy sleight of hand, then your brother picks it up, then he gives you the money hitting X(xbox controller) on any crate, then re-buy it for yourself.

As far as your camping spot I would try mine. When me and my partner played, we got to 38, and he left to go to the bathroom, and I managed to hold it two rounds without him until he got back in that spot. You really can survive a long time. Just be sure that when it gets towards the end of a round IF you need to buy ammo or any supplies that is when you leave to do it. Not after the round is over or you may or may not make it back.

Thanks for commenting, I Hope this helps, sorry it took so long to reply, and if you ave ANY other questions please feel free to ask.

Rjmaster 4 weeks ago

This really helped. Today i just got to level 48. When i get to 50 I will take your advice. I have a question. Can you have a LMG and a 50 cal without dying at a low level? My other question is what two guns would you recommend for a level past 25?(ex. MG36 and MK46)

Thank you for the help. I will be on level 50 on sunday compared to 49 right now. I will most likely comment on Arkaden if I need any more help.

If you're going to use a "dig in" strategy, I find that the best place is actually at the far back end of the level (opposite where you begin). You can place two turrets under the canopy in the waiting area where the air drop crate is located. Put these as far to the side as possible so they cover guys coming up the stairs from within the building as well as both side entrances. The canopy above the guns will shield them from any potential damage from choppers!! The sentries literally will handle 90% of the levels for you until your reach the 25+ waves. All the other suggested tactics still hold; keep flash replenished and self revive. I find that extreme conditioning works well if you want to frequently run to the explosives crate, but otherwise go with sleight of hand. If an excape route is needed, you can bail through the underground subway tunnel and eventually circle back to resume camping. Very rarely will the bad guys utilize the subway, keeping it a safe evacuation point for you and your teammate. Give this a try and good luck!!

my friends and i are on opposite sides of the stairs and can make it to 32 in about 45 minutes. we flash the jugs and headshot as much as possible. using assults and lmgs is great on choppers which i find its best to shoot "the piolit" or where his head should be in the cockpit

l;sdf 11 days ago

i lay down next to the air suppert and plant 1 grande turet on 1 conner and a reguler 1 on the other side while me and my uncle are laying next to them im 12 and i beat the game in 4 days and go to lv 50 on suviver im only lv 30 im multplayer i dont have xbox live

Nerotag 11 days ago

This strategy will only get you to the 30s tops. once helicopter come every round they take too much damage to be dealt with before ground enemies. you need to be inside. the long underground tunnel is by far it best setup spot, as it allows only two entrances, and easy back door access to a juggernaut each jug round so it can be killed quickly

I've been playing survival almost exclusively on this map since it came out n urs is pretty much ythe only area I've never posted in for any significant length of time (altho if i get caught over there at the beginning of a roud i'll stay n jst stick a sentry in the front) and i fully intend to try this as soon as i die lol however i think it should be noted that there is a much easier way to get sentries then constantly running back and forth...PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR SOLO PLAY all u gotta do is buy one place it down where u are then buy the other one but DONT PLACE IT instead keep it in ur inventory n then simply carry the other one back to ur posting spot. my usual strategy esp for 2 player is to fuck around the first few levels (solo play allows for much more of this as ur not competing for kills and therefore money with anyone) then eventually post around the air support (and once it gets real tough DO NOT go inside for any reason during the round) with a regular sentry gun next to the tall crates by the bus and a grenade turret in the lefthand corner of the sidewalk to create a crossfire that essentially annihilates any infantry coming up through the station. the highest i think i ever got was like level 34 with my buddy who's like a cod freak. in essence its the same as ur strategy just on the other side of the map with the tunnel as the escape route. also as far as juggernauts go when they start coming in larger numbers hide ur turrets in the tunnel n either shoot them to hell with a mg36 or L86 (as they reload much quicker than the belt-fed LMGs) or let them chase u around the map til u get them all in a nice little group n drop a fuckin predator right on top of the bastards that way u take them all out at once. as it was already said sleight of hand makes a world of difference as it opens up the possibility of using almost any weapon at least earlier on (i.e pre level 20). also if u intend to be near the ammo box (either by air support or next to ammo) u don't really need 2 LMGs in which case its a very worthwhile idea to keep a .44 magnum as ur secondary that way while u are in last stand (self revive) u don't need to burn through 5 magazines tryna get a kill (stay away from the desert eagle it has way too much recoil to be useful for anything other than pre level 10 amusement. also while playing solo one could quite reasonably run around with either a shotgun or an acog-equipped sniper (RSASS or Barrett .50 work best in terms of power and ammo capacity) as doing this will beef up ur accuracy (often to 100%) yielding you more money, but once ur enemies start coming in droves avoid anything that isn't an assault rifle or an LMG. as far as assault rifles go the ak-47 is still the most powerful so if ur looking to hold on to any rifle it should be that one altho (unless ur one of them cod freaks that can turn any semi-auto into full auto in which case an mk14 its equally appropriate) in the higher levels theres no replacement for a magazine-fed machine gun. one last footnote: under NO circumstances should u mentally equate choppers with juggernauts altho they are equally irritating; at the later levels the choppers should be dealt with before anything else (especially wen playing with a partner as ur turrets can handle the infantry for the 13 seconds it she take for 2 LMG equipped players of reasonable skill to shoot the fucker outta the sky) and juggernauts she be put off as long as possible. also care should be taken when using predator missiles not to accidentally destroy ur turrets or riot/delta squads. sorry for the long comment I jst figured people should know some of these tricks that have worked quite well for me.
